The 3DO was built around an unusual business model: The 3DO Company designed a standard, while Panasonic, GoldStar and Sanyo manufactured the hardware. In 1993 it promised premium multimedia before the market was ready.

A high price and the rapid arrival of PlayStation and Saturn hurt it commercially, but its library keeps a very 1990s charm: FMV, PC ports, CD experiments and early 3D.
